Hello, readers! Chinese language-learning is still very much a going concern. Here’s my study tracker for September.

As you can see, I clocked up 26.5 hours in September. On the one hand, this is a brilliant achievement because during September I was hella busy with work, five people in my family had Covid and a further person actually died. In light of all this, 26.5 hours is good.
On the other hand, it’s nowhere near enough. A few months ago when I was less busy I was managing 2 to 2.5 hours every day and that was enough for me to be able to see progress. One hour a day feels like it’s achieving almost nothing, I’m merely forgetting Chinese more slowly than I would if I did zero hours.
It’s a dilemma. This is without question the most demanding hobby I’ve ever had. It’s very difficult to fit it into my schedule 7 days a week, but I absolutely refuse to give up. I’m not going to let my job prevent me from learning a language.
Anyway, while I was writing this post, a client called me, wanting urgent stuff, so this is what my average day is like at the moment. So I’d better get on it now.
My HSK1 test was supposed to take place in September but was cancelled because of the pandemic. But it looks like tests are back on for 2021 so I am going to attempt HSK2 in January.
See you soon! 下次见!
